A Jefferson County, Colo., couple is in the market for a new car after a bear destroyed the inside of their vehicle early Sunday morning.
Karl Andersen says he heard strange noises coming from outside around 3:30 a.m. He couldn't figure out where they were coming from until he saw the headlights of his car turn on and then the bear inside.
He called 911 and then the Division of Wildlife. A wildlife officer was over an hour and a half away, but suggested that they go out, open the door and then run.
With the bear in the backseat and his back turned Andersen says he popped the door open and ran. Several minutes later the bear climbed out and wandered off down the driveway and out of sight.
Andersen thinks the black bear somehow opened the driver-side door and climbed inside. Once inside, he managed to lock the doors.
