Carl Icahn, the outspoken investor who has made a habit of issuing unsolicited advice to tech companies in recent times, is now ready to embrace a new role: Secretary of the Treasury of the United States. That's the job that Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump nominated Icahn for back in June, though it was an offer that Icahn initially declined. "I am flattered but do not get up early enough in the morning to accept this opportunity," wrote a self-effacing Icahn.

After this week's record-breaking GOP debate, however, the billionaire investor's mind has been swayed and he has now indicated his willingness to be part of Trump's potential cabinet. In follow-up tweets to his announcement, Icahn goes on to say that "the methods of electing our corporate and political leaders have become completely dysfunctional [and] we are in dire need of a breath of fresh air." Sure, Carl, no argument there — but what exactly is so fresh about having old, rich, white dudes running the country and its economy?
