Apple will not be releasing watchOS 2, its next-generation Apple Watch software, today as planned. “We have discovered a bug in development of watchOS 2 that is taking a bit longer to fix than we expected,” the company said in a statement to the press. “We will not release watchOS 2 today but will shortly.” Apple didn’t specify what the problem was, exactly, and didn’t give any further detail on when Apple Watch owners can expect to upgrade. The delay has no effect on iOS 9, which will roll out today as scheduled and has already been thoroughly beta-tested by both developers and the public in the three months since it was announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June. The next-gen watchOS software was not open to public testing. We will update this story when we have more information on watchOS 2’s release date.
