Hillary Clinton came to New York to be interviewed by Donald Trump — or at least Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon pretending to be Trump.
In her first late-night appearance as a 2016 presidential candidate, Clinton sat for a pretend interview with Fallon during an opening Tonight Show bit.
Fallon wore a blonde wig like Trump’s signature coif while holding a gold phone. He asked Clinton about her position on women’s issues, quoting Clinton recently saying Trump “insults” and “dismisses” women.
“I am curious, Donald, what is your stance on women’s issues?’’ Clinton asked.
“Look, I know a lot of women and they all have issues,” Fallon’s Trump said.
The interview is part of an effort by Clinton to show a more relaxed and relatable side to voters as her poll ratings slide amid a drumbeat of negative press coverage over her use of a private email server. Last week, Clinton also visited The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The interview will air tonight.
A one point, Fallon’s Trump told Clinton that she “sounded like a robot.”
He also tried to offer Clinton campaign advice. “Hold on, let me grab my pen,” Clinton said as she reached for a glass of white wine and rolled her eyes.
Clinton even got in a swipe at the Donald. “Are you talking about Bernie Sanders?” Fallon asked. “I hate to say this, but I think he is losing his hair.”
Clinton said: “At least he doesn’t have this one strand that he twirls over his head like a soft serve at Dairy Queen.”
Said Trump: “toupee, I mean touche.”
Trump appeared on The Tonight Show last Friday.
