Ahead of Wednesday’s GOP candidate debate, front-runner Donald Trump had spare details to share about his policy plans for foreign relations, defense and other national security issues, according to media reports.
Trump, speaking aboard the retired USS Iowa off the southern California coast, said he would build up the military:
We’re gonna make our military so big and so strong and so great. It will be so powerful that I don’t think we’re ever going to have to use it. Nobody’s going to mess with us.
He didn’t offer how he would pay for such an expansion, the Associated Press reported.
Trump added that he would release a security plan soon.
He also promised to “take care of our veterans,” calling for improving vet health care.
“We have illegal immigrants treated better by far than our veterans,” he said, according to AP, going on with the immigration talk that has been a staple of his presidential campaign.
Trump’s speech was organized by Veterans for a Strong America, whose leaders endorsed have endorsed Trump.
