Radio host sues Swift

A former Denver radio host has filed a lawsuit against pop star Taylor Swift, saying he lost his job after he was accused of inappropriately touching the singer during a photo session.

David Mueller filed the lawsuit Thursday in U.S. District court in Denver.

The lawsuit alleges Mueller was falsely accused by one of Swift’s security team of grabbing the singer’s buttocks backstage at the Pepsi Center on June 2, 2013.

The Denver Post reports Mueller was backstage for meet and greet with Swift. According to the lawsuit, Mueller and his girlfriend Shannon Melcher posed with the singer.

After small talk, “Swift suddenly announced it was picture time” and “quickly put her arm” around Melcher, while Mueller jumped in “at the last second,” according to The Post. Swift then thanked the couple and they left.

Later, inside the arena, a member of Swift’s security team accused Mueller of touching Swift inappropriately. The Denver Post, citing the lawsuit, reports security members verbally abused the couple and then escorted them out the building.

Mueller was fired two days later from his job at KYGO radio, the lawsuit says. It also says Mueller denies any inappropriate contact with Swift and noted that he had met many other celebrities – such as Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears and Heidi Klum – without any incidents.

The newspaper reports Mueller had worked in radio for more than 20 years and made a base salary of $150,000 before he was terminated. His contract also came with performance bonuses, product endorsement fees and public appearance fees, the newspaper reports.

A statement from Swift's publicist on Saturday says Mueller's employer was given evidence after the incident and made its own decision on his job status.
