Outside Ground Zero, locals and tourists both paid their respects on the 14th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks.

Students honor Patriot Day at Michigan State UniversityFlags are placed in the names of victims etched into panels on one of two reflecting pools at the National September 11 Memorial. Twin one-acre reflecting pools were built where the Twin Towers stood. The 30-foot manmade waterfalls are meant to signify falling tears.Years after the attacks, Julia Barden captured the hustle and bustle of Times Square, marveling at the resilience of the city. "As I stood in Times Square on 9/11, I wondered if we'd ever be normal again. Gradually, the shoppers and the tourists and the street vendors returned because we wouldn't let fear win. But we also know things will never be the same. Never forget.""This photo was taken on a bike ride in Liberty State Park, N.J., at sunset  while staying on a boat in Liberty Landing in Jersey City. It is an amazing structure, especially at sunset, as it reflects the island of Manhattan, such an appropriate reflection when you consider it is a dedication to the N.J. lives lost in Manhattan on 9/11."

Rosemary Cain walks in honor of her son in 2011, at the 10th annual tribute to FDNY Father Mychal F. Judge, O.F.M., and all those lost on 9/11. Judge served as chaplain for the FDNY and was the first recorded fatality of the 2001 attacks.
