apple-2015-3 Christie Hemm Klok/WIREDNew iPhones are coming! Apple will be announcing its latest mobile phones, as well as a few other shiny new things, September 9 at 10am PDT. We’ll be there, watching the magic unfold in person, but you can watch it live, too.A video stream of the event is available at Apple.com/live. It works on any iOS 7 or iOS 8 device—just visit the link in mobile Safari. If you’re watching on a computer, you’ll need to use Safari on a Mac to access the livestream (we know, and we’re sorry too), or you can use a Windows 10 machine running the new Edge browser. If you have an Apple TV, you can stream the event directly to your television. Look for the special “Apple Events” channel on the Apple TV’s home screen.Confused about whether your particular phone/tablet/etc will be able to run it? Here’s Apple’s word on what exactly you’ll need:“Live streaming uses Apple’s HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) technology. HLS requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with Safari on iOS 7.0 or later, a Mac with Safari 6.0.5 or later on OS X v10.8.5 or later, or a PC with Microsoft Edge on Windows 10. Streaming via Apple TV requires a second- or third-generation Apple TV with software 6.2 or later.”If you are a Windows loyalist this event marks the first time you can watch it live, since Windows 10 and the new Edge browser support Apple’s tech. Otherwise, wait until later when the replay is up. But even if you’re erring to catch the late, Windows-friendly version show, you can follow along with our liveblog. We’ll be updating as fast as our keyboards and cameras allow.Go Back to Top. Skip To: Start of Article.
