Labor Day is coming this weekend, and there’s still time to prep. This gear is meant to help you host a summer cookout, a picnic with friends, or any outdoor excursion. There’s a cooler with a built-in USB port and speaker, a high-tech fire starter, and a grill meant for serious bratwursts.

1. Coolest cooler ($485)

This cooler is more of a mobile refrigerator and kitchen. There’s a blender on top, plates and a sharp knife, a bottle opener, and even an LED light inside for finding drinks at night. A waterproof USB port helps you charge your phone, and the cooler includes a Bluetooth speaker that lasts up to eight hours on a charge and enables two people connect to it in order to stream music.

2. Thermacell Mosquito Repellent lantern ($60)

Spraying for mosquitoes is time-consuming and not that healthy for you. This lantern repels mosquitoes within a 15-foot radius by mimicking the natural insecticide found in chrysanthemums. The 300-lumens lantern is a nice bonus, shining bright enough for any picnic. The D-Cell batteries are not included — they provide about 50 hours of repellent and light.

3. Char-Broil Red Patio Bistro Gas Grill ($180)

This portable gas grill uses a new technology called TRU-Infrared that heats up a grate. Small holes black the heat build-up, transferring it to the grate itself for even more cooking. The grill weighs 45 pounds, and you can transport it using two wheels. There’s a hood-mounted temperature gauge which helps you cook meat for the right duration and at a consistent heat.

4. Taylor Smart Thermometer with SmarTemp ($70)

It always helps to take some of the guesswork out of grilling on Labor Day. You sync the thermometer to your smartphone over Bluetooth 4.0. There are two probes, one for the meat and one for the grill itself, and you can see two temps on the digital display at once. The Smartemp app shows presets for the correct cooking temp for steak, burgers, chicken, and more.

5. Bison Airlighter ($80)

Labor Day picnics can become frustrating when you can’t get the charcoal to light. This handheld fire starter for wood or charcoal grills looks like something you’d use in the Halo video game. It uses butane (sold in a canister at hardware stores) and can ignite charcoal in only 10 seconds. Because the lighter is all self-contained, there are no exposed lighter fluids.

6. Toad&Co Wayfarer Tunic ($86)

Labor Day picnics are not just about cooking and making lemonade. This stylish women’s tunic doesn’t look too techie, but it has many hidden features. One is a hidden zipper pouch, which you can use for stashing your phone. The material uses moisture-wicking tech to keep you warm (if you get wet, it’s also fast drying) and has a built-in UPF 40+ sunblocker.
