'Repo' star's Cobra terrorizes

You could call the movie "Snakes on a Repossessed Plane," if they could just find the slippery escapee.

The star of Discovery Channel's “Airplane Repo,” Mike Kennedy, is missing his eight-foot King Cobra snake, and the misplaced serpent has his town on lockdown.

On Wednesday, the exotic pet escaped from Kennedy's Orange County home when a tree fell on the house and upset its habitat. Local schools shut down, and a massive search -- which even has a social media hashtag #Cobrawatch -- ensued. And for good reason.

Terry Phillip, Curator of Reptiles at The Black Hills Reptile Gardens in South Dakota, says the snake is very dangerous.

"The King Cobra is the largest venomous snake in the world [with] one of the most dangerous snake bites," Phillip told FOX411. "In Florida there is an anti-venom in Miami Dade Fire and Rescue – Venom 1 but that’s in Miami and that’s a ways away from Orlando and you wouldn’t survive long enough to get the anti-venom. The King cobra bite is one of the most difficult bites to survive."

Central Florida News interviewed a friend of Kennedy’s, Bob Cross of Critter Capture Service, who said Kennedy is distraught over the missing reptile.

“Mike is very upset. He's hurt. He's upset. He's concerned. He's worried,” said Cross.

According to Kennedy’s Facebook page, he is an exotic pet dealer and licensed to have the dangerous animal.

Phillip said if Kennedy is indeed a responsible owner, he should have anti-venom on hand.

"I’m a big fan of responsible ownership of exotic wildlife but when it comes to venomous snakes it’s all about having its own anti-venom," he said. "It’s insulting when a private person owns an exotic snake and then doesn’t provide their own anti-venom.  They can afford thousands in dollars for the snake, the cages, etc."

WFTV reports that in 2001 the reality TV star had another snake escape. It was killed when a homeowner found it in his garage and shot it.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation (FWC) are asking for citizens in help while they search the area. Should anyone spot the serpent they should alert officials via their hotline 888-404-3922, and are warned to not approach the animal.

But how concerned should local residents be?

Realistically, people shouldn’t be too worried in Florida. The thing that makes this a big story is that it’s a King Cobra," said Phillip. "If you’re outside watch where you sit, keep an eye out on your youngsters, things they should have been doing anyway on Tuesday before the cobra escaped. Many poisonous snakes are indigenous to Florida."

FOX411 reached out to Discovery for comment but they declined. Kennedy did not respond to messages on his Twitter and Facebook accounts.
