Even if the Audio Visuals roundup isn’t a competition—the list isn’t structured as some kind of descending top 10—there is still extra prestige in nabbing the headlining spot, and this week Gunship takes the prize with “Tech Noir,” a claymation tribute to the apocalyptic action movies of the 1980s with a heroic love story. What more could you want? But don’t worry. The supporting cast of videos is pretty excellent, too. Also, in this week’s Honorable Mention category, we have the sad story of a lonely hot dog in Slime’s clip for, yes, “Hot Dog,” and Sheep Dog and Wolf bring their video for “Breathe” to life by giving you a whole bunch of people not doing any of it. Because that’s what we love about music videos around here: They always keep us on our toes.
