A Texas couple is putting the average homeowners guardian lion statues to shame with a prehistoric twist on their lawn.

Nancy Hentschel and her husband found two metal sculptures of dinosaurs while on vacation in Arizona and decided to bring them home, KTRK-TV reported.

The T-Rex and Velociraptor sculptures sit near the couple's front walkway and appear to lunge at an unseen victim.

"Obviously it does make a little bit of a statement," Hentschel told KTRK-TV. "And I've met more neighbors in the past 24 hours than I have in the 17 years we've lived here."

While many appreciate the dinosaurs, some think the quirky lawn art should not be allowed in the planned community of New Territory in Sugar Land, Texas, where the couple lives.

A post on the community's Facebook page encouraged residents to, "take a drive down Kendall Creek in Lakewind to take a look at this Jurassic Yard before the [Homeowner's Association) succeeds in having the homeowner remove them."

The post added that the decorations, "are of course in violation of the deed restrictions, but they are kind of cool. Kudos to the resident for even thinking of this one."

The community has a long list of guidelines that residents must abide by, according to ABC News. The New Territory Residential Community Association's Homeowner's Handbook requires residents to obtain written consent prior to installation" of "yard decorations and furniture," ABC reported.

KTRK-TV reported that the HOA is aware of the dinosaurs. Hentschel told the station she was contacted and asked what her plans are regarding the dinosaurs, and said she is going to contest any request for their removal.

"It's creative, and it's creating a real sense of community here," she told KTRK-TV.
