The global economy is more interdependent than many people realize. Simple items have materials originating from many sources, affecting workers and the environment in other countries. Have students create their own interdependence map by entering information about their clothes into this interactive, and comparing it to others’ information. They then learn about an MP3 player or a pair of jeans through videos, making decisions about how they are produced and earning badges for their company. At the end, they decide if they approve of what their company represents. A code is available if one must stop the activity early.
