The national weather forecast for September 22, 2015 calls for rain and flooding in the Southwest and into Utah and Colorado.
Heavy rain will soak the Southwest on Tuesday while high heat scorches the Plains.
West: Remnants of Tropical Depression 16-E will continue to drench the Desert Southwest with heavy rain and the potential for flash flooding. The heaviest rain is likely in Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado. The Northwest will be cool and clear.
Central U.S.: Blistering heat will be the story in the central and southern Plains as high temperatures rocket into the 90s. A few light showers are possible in the upper Midwest.
East: Clouds, showers and thunderstorms are forecast for much of the Southeast, with the heaviest precipitation expected in the Carolinas and Georgia. The Northeast will be cool and pleasant.
