Your average blockbuster blow-stuff-up movie requires a visual effects team to show whole cities being leveled. But for Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, the folks at Weta Digital had to digitally destroy cities and then create their scenes. To design the post-apocalyptic world of Scorch Trials, out today, Weta actually rendered average-looking buildings and then ran destruction simulations on them. Presto: dystopia!
