Hurricane Arthur keeps trying to destroy your Fourth of July plans
Worst. Timing. Ever. Arthur is a Category 2 hurricane now, and he's starting his assault on North Carolina's barrier islands. He's expected to whip past the Outer Banks bringing rain, heavy winds, storm surge and dangerous rip tides. The big question is how much beach erosion, downed power lines and wrecked holiday weekends will be left in his wake. If you're looking forward to fireworks, make sure they're actually still happening. To keep up with the storm's path, use our storm tracker.
Detective: Dad sexted women while son died in hot car
This story just keeps getting worse. The Georgia man charged with murder in the hot car death of his 22-month-old son was in court, and police testified that Justin Ross Harris was sexting with several women on the day of his son's death. They also revealed Harris and his wife had two life insurance policies for the toddler, one for $2,000 and one for $25,000. Police said Harris had visited websites advocating "child free" and searched "how to survive prison."

Unfinished World Cup overpass collapses
Brazil is shaking its head right now. An overpass under construction collapsed Thursday in the World Cup city of Belo Horizonte, killing at least two people and trapping a commuter bus, two construction trucks and a car. At least 22 people were injured. Brazilian officials don't think the casualty numbers will rise too sharply. This is the biggest black eye yet for Brazil's hosting of the World Cup..

Rick Perry to Obama: Send child immigrants back home
Texas Gov. Rick Perry has some beef with the president. There was a U.S. House hearing on Thursday about the surge of unaccompanied minors crossing the Texas border. Perry testified and said President Obama should deploy the National Guard to force thousands of undocumented child immigrants back to their home country. "Allowing them to remain here will only encourage the next group of individuals to undertake this dangerous and life-threatening journey here," Perry said. U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee doesn't agree. She said the influx of children isn't a security crisis, but a humanitarian one. "A massive deportation policy for children – and the mass detention of children – is not a humane thing to do," she said.
