Hey, so remember a couple weeks back when we told you, dear reader, to check out Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s debut season because there was apparently some joke about “ass blood”? Well, guess what? On last night’s premiere we got that gag. Literally. So, the short version of the Crazy plot is that Rebecca Bunch (viral video star Rachel Bloom), has moved from New York to West Covina, California to chase old teenage flame, Josh (Vincent Rodriguez III). She gets there, meets a random guy who knows said flame, and then agrees to go with Random Guy to a party in hopes of seeing her crush. The highlight, however, is that as she prepares for her night out she sings this very un-sexy “Sexy Getting Ready Song.” The best/worst part? The scene where she waxes her privates and finds herself staring down the reality of her own, yes, ass blood. It is as gross as the faces on her backup singers implies. Check it out above, and stick around for the part where the rap interlude evolves into a deep contemplation of the patriarchy. Let’s hope Crazy Ex-Girlfriend stays this smart and delightfully weird.
