A Memphis police officer shot multiple times Sunday afternoon has died of his wounds, officials said. It was the second time in the past 10 weeks that a city officer was shot dead.

Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong identified the slain officer as 31-year-old Terence Olridge, The (Memphis) Commercial Appeal reported. He was preparing to go to work when the shooting occurred, officials said.

Armstrong said police had detained a suspect, but that no charges had been filed.

Olridge joined the police department in September 2014, and was stationed at the Airways precinct, The Commercial Appeal reported. Armstrong said Olridge's fiancee is four months pregnant.

On Aug. 1, another city police officer, 33-year-old Sean Bolton, died after being shot multiple times during a routine stop. Police said Bolton approached a car pulled over at a roadside and shined his spotlight into the car. The driver ran away, but the car's passenger, identified as 29-year-old Tremaine Wilbourn, struggled with Bolton when he ordered him out of the car, police said. Wilbourn pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots at close range.

Following a two-day, city-wide manhunt by local and federal authorities, Wilbourn surrendered to U.S. Marshals. He was charged with first-degree murder.

During a preliminary hearing in the case on Friday, Wilbourn's court-appointed attorneys told Judge Ronald Lucchesi that there was no proof that "this was a premeditated murder," and that there was not enough evidence for probable cause on the first-degree murder charge. Lucchesi ruled that there was enough evidence for probable cause and bound the case over to a grand jury.

Wilbourn remains jailed on a $9.9 million bond.

Olridge is the fourth officer killed since 2011.
