WASHINGTON — Obama administration officials, congressional lawmakers, entertainers, business people and various other guests gathered Friday at a White House state dinner for China President Xi Jinping.

The guests ranged from film and television producer Lee Daniels ("Empire") to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, from Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor to ballerina Misty Copeland.

Among non-entertainment figures: Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who helped broker President Richard Nixon's landmark trip to China in 1972.
